Summer Painting Retreat with Jan-Ove Tuv
Five days of classical painting at Rødegaard, on the edge of Mols Bjerge National Park. Mornings with the live model, afternoons painting outdoors in hills, forest and garden when the weather allows.
Figure in the morning, landscape in the afternoon, and five long Danish summer days to go deep.
The course suits beginners and experienced painters alike. All you need is the wish to learn.
The days
Daily program
10–13
Painting from the model
Classical oil painting from life: light and shadow, flesh tones, colour mixing and building a painting layer by layer. Demonstrations and individual guidance.
13–16
Break
Lunch, rest, a swim. The beaches and the national park are right outside the door.
16–[19]
Plein air (optional)
Jan-Ove opens with a plein-air demonstration on day one. Each afternoon the group heads into the hills and along the coast, or you paint the plants in Rødegaard's lush garden, weather permitting. On rainy days the atelier stays open.

Your teacher
Jan-Ove Tuv
Norwegian painter and longtime student of Odd Nerdrum. Jan-Ove teaches classical painting in the old-master tradition, with courses at the Nerdrum Museum in Stavern and online. He teaches in English and Norwegian.

Price
6,500 DKK
Tuition and model fees for the full five days. Accommodation and food are not included, which keeps the price down.

- Your own oil painting materials (a full list is sent on signup)
- Canvas, max [50 × 70 cm]
- A portable easel or pochade box for painting outdoors

The atelier has a small kitchen where you're welcome to cook. For groceries, Vrinners and Ebeltoft are a short bus ride away, about 20 minutes to Ebeltoft.

Rødegaard, Karlshøjvej 5, 8420 Knebel. About 45 minutes from Aarhus. From Norway, take the Larvik–Hirtshals ferry.
